Example 1
Start at 6. Repeat “add 6” exactly 3 times. What number is reached?
Show worked answer
Answer: 24
- Repeating addition 3 times adds 6×3=18.
- 6+18=24.
Example 2
Start at 2. If the number is less than 18, multiply it by 3 and test again. Stop when it is 18 or more. What number is reached?
Show worked answer
Answer: 18
- The values are 2,6,18.
- 18 is not less than 18, so the algorithm stops there.
Example 3

Show worked answer
